Frequently Asked Questions

Will No. 124 Fuchsia Fling cover my natural nail completely?

Yes. It's an opaque gel polish, so once it's built up you won't see your nail line, free edge, or patchiness through it.

Opaque S&L shades reach full coverage in two to three thin coats, each cured for 60 seconds. Very pale shades, like whites and soft pastels, usually need the full three. How thin the coats are matters more than how many: one thick coat cures unevenly and is the usual cause of wrinkling and lifting.

Why does my first coat of opaque gel look streaky?

That's normal. The first coat of an opaque gel lays down a thin layer of pigment, and it often looks patchy, especially in pale and bright shades. The second coat evens it out.

Don't fix streaks by loading more gel onto the first coat. Thick layers are what make gel shrink back from the edges. Keep each coat thin, cure it, then add the next.

What else do I need to apply No. 124 Fuchsia Fling?

Three things besides the color. S&L Gel Base Coat bonds the color to your natural nail. S&L Gel Top Coat (no-wipe) seals it and adds shine. And an LED or UV lamp cures each layer, because gel polish doesn't air-dry.

If you're starting from scratch, the S&L Gel Nail Starter Kit includes all three, plus prep tools and remover.
