Why is my top coat chipping at the tips?

The free edge wasn't sealed. Once one corner catches, the chip runs back across the nail.

Run a thin swipe of top coat across the tip of each nail including the flat edge, not just the surface. That closes the layers inside a sealed envelope so water and friction have nothing to catch.

If it's flaking off in sheets rather than chipping at the tip, that's filing dust left under the top coat. Wipe every nail with an alcohol pad before you apply it.

Why does my top coat look cloudy or dull after curing?

Two usual causes.

You touched it too soon. Gel gets warm as it cures. Touching the nail or applying cuticle oil while it's still hot clouds the surface. Let your hands rest for a minute after the lamp before touching anything.

Filing dust underneath. If you buffed or reshaped before the top coat, leftover dust stops it bonding cleanly. Before starting your manicure, wipe every nail with an alcohol pad first.

Can I use the matte top coat over any color?

Yes. Matte works over any fully cured gel color and turns a glossy shade into a flat, velvety finish so a color you already own gives you two looks.

Same application and cure time as glossy: one thin layer, cap the free edge, cure 60 seconds.
